Most of us realize the world will not end if we forget something, and heaven knows there are stores along the way. But, I still get a bit miffed at the thought of having to purchase something when the original is sitting safe and sound back at home. And let’s face it, how many stores carry toilet chemicals and the specialty tp we use? The campgrounds you stay at can charge a days worth of gas for these items. And we will pay what they want because we cannot do without these necessities.
Making a list is a simple and effective method to aid in the packing of your rig whether you are going on the road for the summer or on a 4 day outing. Do not let your mate convince you that you are entering the senior moment zone because you are making lists. Frankly, it is far less stressful to take lists in hand and make sure you have what you want rather than tooling down the highway wondering what was left behind. The beauty of a list is that you can make a 'master list' and modify the next generation depending of what type of outing is coming up. Lists can be comprehensive or they may be divided into categories so as to not be too overwhelming.
Create a list for food, one for clothing, one for to-do chores in the rig, and the final one is for household stuff needing to be done before you leave. Basically, lists are nothing more than a safety net for our sanity. Don't let them overwhelm you. Start your lists a week or so before you leave. This gives you plenty of time to add, subtract or just modify what you thought you were going to take along. By the time you are ready to start packing, you have everything written down and packing is becoming less of a chore.
Lists are not for sissies. Every airline flight crew uses one to get ready to take off and another to get ready to land. You too can be a professional list user.
