Where We Are Going
October -
Fool Hollow
State Park, Show Low, AZ
October 9th through the 12th, leaving on the 13th. Plan
on visiting with us at Fool Hollow State Park Campground.
The arrival day is Thursday, Oct 9th, leaving on Monday, Oct 13th.
This is the Columbus Day weekend, thus Monday is a holiday for some
people. As with most of our State Parks, the sites are on a first come,
first settled basis. Reservations are not available.
When: October 9 - 12, lv 13. Note
that this is a weekend
and
the Columbus Day three day weekend.
Where: Fool Hollow State Park, On Old Linden Road, about a mile East of SR 260, on the west side of Show Low, AZ. Camp fees are still expected to be $20/night.
Facilities: Fool Hollow State Park, is a First-Come park with all sites having W/E. The two Western loops also have sewer connections.
Who: Paul Gillespie is hosting this camp. He would appreciate it if you would let him know that you plan to attend. Call 480-654-5017, or e-mail to pagillespie@juno.com.
Activities: We have missed the Pioneer Museum on previous trips. Additionally there are several food establishments to visit. Allegedly there are supposed to be fish in the lake and, of course, there are many geo-caches in the area. Bring your GPS for a chance to go hiking with a purpose.
Other stuff: At the top of the Pinetop-Lakeside hill sits the local Indian casino. It also contains a nice restaurant. On the way up the hill you can find Honey Bear's Antiques, which is just next door to Mama Bear's Restaurant. Isn't that convenient?
