Where We Have Been
The 2003 - 2004 Season
October 2003
Houston Mesa - Payson, AZ
October 7 - 9, 2003. Houston Mesa Camp Ground, Payson
Arizona. Don and Maria Costello, our wagonmasters, hosted a most
pleasant outing for our
first of the season.
Members in attendance included the Costellos, Fullers, Fletchers,
Kaufmans, Gillespies, Spigners, Rodgers and the Hoffmans. The Ziminskis
made it in for the day and stayed for the pot-luck
The weather was quite cooperative providing cool days and comfortable
evenings. The rain held off until our last morning. We visited the
Payson Pioneer museum for a docent guided tour. A most interesting
collections of artifacts are housed in the museum. We experienced a new
Italian restaurant, Cucina Paradisio w
ith
specialty pizzas. The Wednesday pot-luck was a "grill-your-own" event
with a huge variety of salads and veggies. Following the dinner and
business meeting came the dessert and an anniversary cake and ice cream
in honor of Barb & Vic Kaufman.
This year we skipped the food service at the Indian casino and instead
several ventured to the
Randall House in nearby Pine, AZ. Reports indicate it is to be kept on
our list of top choice eating establishments.
Thursday morning we repaired the malicious mischief done to the
Hoffman’s unit by person or persons unknown, prior to the camp out.
