Tuesday was a gathering, meet and greet day. Some meeting others for the very first time. It speaks to what a diverse group that we belong to. Bringing members in from almost the very edges of the state, Page to the north, Lake Havasu to the west, Tucson to the south and Mesa from the very center.

A few local take out places were sampled for the evening finding very fine bar-b-que available. Good conversation around the campfire and the Suns blowing out the Knicks.

Wednesday morning we invaded the Clemenceau museum in town aClemenceau Museumnd enjoyed a guided tour of the many interesting pieces displayed. Highlight of the museum was the model railroad operating layout built to demonstrate the seven railroads that have served or are serving the Verde Valley. Both of the train operators were very well versed in the history of the area and the railroad contribution to the growth of the area. Additionally almost all of the volunteers in the museum were long time area residents and just a wealth of knowledge regarding the history and changes in the Verde Valley. Thursday came through as a free day, people visited a great variety of shops and craft stores in old town Cottonwood. This included picking up some tasty baked goods from the local Mexican bakery. Some toured nearby Jerome and the main sections of Clarkdale. Members wandered as far as Prescott to look into shopping and even historical places of interest.

We met again at SuCasa restaurant in Clarkdale for yet another memorable evening of Mexican Cuisine. This was a day of a light rain and cleansing of the air and a settling of the dust. The evening just cried out for a campfire. We complied and enjoyed the rest of the evening.
