March in Tucson

After arriving on Monday afternoon, the group car-pooled off to Oracle Junction and Lupe’s Mexican restaurant. This place makes the list for food, service was a bit on the slow side, yet we did arrive as a big group.
Tuesday morning, our busy wagonmaster, Rosie hustled everyone up and out toBiosphere Tour go to the nearby Biosphere-2 experimental planet and take a guided tour of this multi million dollar science experiment. What a place this is and the amount of planning and work that went into building a small planet and the lessons that were learned from the time spent inside adds to the knowledge needed to think and plan for a prolonged space flight.
Another evening camp fire and it was time once again to return to civilian life and plan for the next outing in April in Yuma. Wednesday was yet another car-pool Campfireday. This one across Tucson to the Pima Air and Space Museum. This provided us with two more guided tours. One of the open yards where many surviving military and some civilian planes are stored and displayed for inspection. Then across the highway to the Air Force Base and the Facility for storage and recovery of components of outdated war planes. Thousands of them. About a fourth of thePima Air stored planes could be returned to service with only a couple weeks work for servicing and new tires and fluids.
Back at camp we made preparations for the pot-luck meal and just enjoyed the surroundings and the fellowship of the members gathered. We had two sets of day-trippers visiting us. One couple were friends of Jean and the other couple were Sue & Al Ball. Sue is the sister of our Vice President, Shirley Fuller. After the meal yet more campfire discussion and some finalization of plans and places to see next month as we visFly Catcherit Yuma.
Following the dinner and loosening the belts we filled the great fire pit with wood and enjoyed more colorful fire flames and the clear, star filled sky.
Our campground was the small group area in the State Park. It was large enough to hold a group twice our size. We had nine rigs in attendance at this camp.
