January 2008
Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Tuesday January 8, 2008, our group assembled at Lake
Pleasant Park.
Each night we were able to enjoy a campfire for light and warmth. It was
a bit cool. It was January. What would you expect? Tuesday evening we
visited the Wildhorse Café and bait shop. Burgers and other foods were
pronounced to be very fine.
Everyday we could enjoy watching several sailboats quietly whisking
across
the lake and each morning there were hot air balloons off in the
distance.
Wednesday came up clear and cool. A nice change from the previous week
of rain and wind. Several
of the ladies spent part of the morning doing some "beading" and came
away from the class each wearing a simulated turquoise bracelet in the
highest southwest fashion.
Fullers came out for the afternoon Pot-Luck and as usual, the food and
selections were well above average.
Thursday provided a chance to visit the shops and Desert Caballeros
Museum in Wickenburg as well as the many shops in downtown. Not
surprisingly many of the campers noticed their friends at nearby tables
while enjoying
a great lunch at the Golden Nugget Restaurant.
