Where We Have Been
The 2005 - 2006 Season
January at Cave Creek
Our first of the year camp out gathered at Cave Creek
Park. This lovely desert setting park has a number of individual sites
for RVs with Electric and
water.
We selected the group area which sports a great ramada and excellent
fire pit which was used to great advantage almost every evening.
Attending the campout hosted by the Kaufmans were: Costellos,
Diefenbachers, Fullers, Gillespies, Kirwans, Mentons and Rodgers. Our
day visitors were the Lequeriques, Pete & Carol our newest members, and
the Spigners, Gwen & Fletcher.
The afternoons were warm - perfect for sitting in the
sun and visiting. Wednesday evening was our usual potluck. Our hosts
live in Cave Creek, very close by to the county park, and we went to
their home for ziti and meatballs. A delicious meal and a lovely home.
On Thursday morning, the group had a belt loosening breakfast at Harold’s Corral and a private tour of the Carefree Museum. Shirley, our tour guide and a docent volunteer at the museum, was quiteknowledgeable on the museum displays and the history of the area as related to those pieces on display. After that there was shopping at the Town Dump and El Pedregal. Evenings were spent around the campfire.
With so many left-overs from the potluck, there was enough for "re-runs" on Thursday evening.
