Our final gathering of the calendar year was determined to be a resounding success. This is not just based on the food, which would have made many a Las Vegas buffet operator jealous, but on the smiles, laughter and fellowship so typical of this organization.
Jim & Linda had the home very well decorated for
the Christmas season.
The big tree and the room filling display of the ceramic villages.
Some 24 friends were in attendance, each coming bearing food for the buffet. Planning was perfect, very few leftovers to cart home.
The first event, of course, would be the meet and
greet of folks that had not been together for many months and a
chance to meet some of the newest members that have not been on many
campouts as yet.
Next came the dinner. Lots of conversation and some spectacular treats came with the end of the meal.
Additionally, Linda entertained everyone with her
strolling viola playing many Christmas songs. This was an unexpected
surprise. One of the many that was hinted at in the pre gathering
information.
Sadly, there had to be a time to leave, return home and plan for the future and to nurture some new friendships that blossomed during the evening.
Now the next camp is not far off. When your calendar reads 2008, start loading your trailer and meet at Lake Pleasant on January 9th. See you there.
